It’s hard to believe fall is swiftly approaching; it feels like just yesterday we were preparing for peak summer heat with sunscreen, sheer tints, and sunkissed blush. But while the seasons change, it actually may not warrant a complete regimen reset. The new arrivals that hit the Vogue beauty closet in August prove that the beauty industry is still embracing a certain easygoing, effortlessness. Complexion products remain lightweight and skincare-powered; fragrances lean vibrant and mood-boosting; color pigments remain multitasking and foolproof. An everlasting reminder that beauty is what you make it. Read on to catch a glimpse into the most exciting beauty launches we’re eyeing into fall.
Chanel
Chance Eau Fraîche Eau de Parfum
CHANEL
It goes without saying that Chanel is one of the most sought-after perfume houses—not many of us can say we haven’t owned at least one bottle of N°5 perfume or Bleu de Chanel cologne. This summer, the label is introducing yet another sure-to-be-a-hit: Chance Eau Fraîche eau de parfum. The scent is the work of Chanel’s in-house perfumer Olivier Polge, who sought to add depth and intensity to the pre-existing eau de toilette. He maintained the jasmine at the heart of the fragrance, but accentuated it with citrusy zest and rich ambery accords. Described as fresh and woody, expect this invigorating scent to linger on the skin. In New York City? Experience the scent firsthand September 8 through 10 at the brand’s retro Lucky Chance Diner—located in Williamsburg just around the corner from the recently opened fragrance and beauty boutique.
Kosas
Brow Pop Nano
KOSAS
These days, the en vogue brow trend is bold yet natural-looking. Basically, you want your arches to look like they grew that way. While you could invest in an eyebrow serum to actually grow your hairs, you could also mimic the full look with a pencil. Enter Kosas Brow Pop Nano. This allows users to create ultra-precise, feathery hairs through its fine pencil tip. Not to worry, it fills in sparse areas with effortless, non-waxy pigment. There’s even castor oil and panthenol to keep your brow hairs in tip-top shape.
Osea
Seaglow Resurfacing Scrub
NORDSTROM
ULTA
You’ve probably heard mixed guidance on whether a chemical or physical facial exfoliant is best. In reality, it’s all about balance—you don’t want anything too rough or too abrasive, to slough away impurities beneath the surface. Take the guesswork out of exfoliation with Osea’s new Seaglow Resurfacing Scrub. Whipped into a lightweight, marshmallow texture, the formula contains flower acids (a chemical exfoliant derived from hibiscus), kiwi rice microparticles (infused with alpha hydroxy acids), volcanic sand, clay, bentonite, blue-green algae, and botanical oils. It all combines together to cleanse and clarify simultaneously—the result is a smoother, brighter complexion.
Agent Nateur
h o l i ( s u n ) spf 50 dewy tinted skin drops
AGENT NATEUR
Agent Nateur might be known for its range of luxe, natural skincare salves, but with the launch of its skin tint—it might just be a contender in the makeup category. Surely, founder Jena Covello could’ve made a sooner entrance into makeup but she wanted to ensure the skin drops were perfect—read: “safe, effective, nourishing, lightweight, dreamy to apply, and of course, boosted with clinically-proven skincare actives to treat your skin while protecting it” as she puts it. Powered by 100% mineral SPF 50 (zinc oxide 12%) plus a host of botanical oils and extracts, holi(sun) delivers sun protection, lightweight wear, and natural-dewy finish that will translate well into fall.
Merit
Solo Shadow Cream-to-Powder Soft Matte Eyeshadow
SEPHORA
MERIT BEAUTY
Maybe it’s just me, or is eyeshadow the hardest part of a makeup regimen to master? Dare I say, the cut creases and statement eye looks that defined the 2010s felt a little outdated for my current beauty look. I haven’t created an eyeshadow look in years—a sentiment the beauty professionals at Merit anticipated. With Solo Shadow, one can blend its cream-to-powder pigments for a wash of effortless, ’90s-inspired color. There are eight shades to choose from—four nude-hued neutrals perfect for every day and four statement pigments, from Social, a powdery mauve, to Viper, an earthy green.
Vyrao
The Sixth Eau de Parfum
SAKS FIFTH AVENUE
MODA OPERANDI
Should fragrance be backed by science? Vyrao says yes. When founder Yasmin Sewell sought to create a scent for mindfulness, she enlisted a team of experts—her long-time psychic medium Katt Nicholson, perfumer and trained biochemist Meabh Mc Curtin, and International Flavor & Fragrances Inc.’s Science of Wellness program—for a holistic approach to understanding the connection between the mind and scent. The Sixth was the result. The perfume features cypress oil (associated with boosting self-esteem), patchouli oil (to aid relaxation), and oak moss (for emotional grounding) alongside juniper berry, fennel, apple, and peppermint to amplify positivity, balance, and intuition.
Saie
Glossybounce High-Shine Lip Gloss Oil
SAIE
SEPHORA
Saie’s latest launch is everything a modern lip gloss should be: high-shine, non-sticky, and insanely hydrating. Its conditioning properties come by way of jojoba seed oil, hyaluronic acid, and shea butter, which helps keep lips plump and soft. Even its shades feel contemporary—less early aughts, more sophisticated, your-lips-but-shiner. My favorite? Shade Dip—a dusty rose hue sure to complement any skin tone.
Topicals
Sealed Active Scar Filling Primer
SEPHORA
Topicals is the cool-girl beauty line to know. Following its cult-favorite Faded serum and High Roller in-grown salve, founder Olamide Olowe introduces Sealed Active Scar Primer. A solution for pitted acne scars and enlarged pores, the primer contains encapsulated retinol, medical-grade silicone, peptides, and papain to reduce the appearance of post-acne scars and indents over time. I find this especially useful before makeup—its silky, blurring texture is optimal. “Perfect” skin is not the goal here; but rather, feeling good about the skin you’re in.
Givenchy
Prisme Libre Loose Powder Blush 12H Radiance
SEPHORA
SAKS FIFTH AVENUE
Are we experiencing a powder blush resurgence? While creamy pigments took over 2022, this year, we’re revisiting soft-focused hues to diffuse the skin in a wash of color atop foundation. Formulas old and new are fair game here. Of the new entrants, Givenchy’s Prisme Libre blush has captured our attention. At first glance, you’ll notice each of the six shades offers four harmonious blush colors; this looks très chic on a vanity but also gives you the option to choose which colors to blend. Applying is as simple as swirling your brush in the cap and dusting blush where you’d like it. Better yet, because the powder is finely milled, this feels weightless on the skin.
Herbivore
Cloud Milk Coconut + Maca Firming Cream
SEPHORA
HERBIVORE
My body care regimen is ever-changing simply because new, intriguing products hit the market before I have time to get through a bottle of lotion. I guess we’re finally embracing the notion that we should treat the skin on the body like that of the face. In any case, Herbivore’s Cloud Milk is the latest launch I’ve been gravitating towards (and eagerly recommending to friends). As the name suggests, the cream is whipped into an impeccably lightweight, cloud-like texture that manages to still be moisturizing. We have coconut, maca, and vegan squalane to thank for that. Lather on a bit post-shower to lock in moisture and firm skin over time.
